Information

Carlton Centre is the head office of Transnet, a South African Transport company.
The 50th and topmost floor of the Carlton Centre is known colloquially as the "Top of Africa".
The tower has spandrel beams supporting ribbed slabs at each floor level.
Once the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, the Carlton Centre opened with the 5-star and 30-story Carlton Hotel taking up most of the floor space of the complex.
If you want a bird’s-eye view of Johannesburg, the 50-storey Carlton Centre is the place to go. Visitors to the centre can enjoy a panoramic view of the City of Gold from the Top of Africa, as the topmost floor of the building is known.
